New Light Honda Generator Not Light On Power

October 29, 2009 – Honda’s extensive generator range is now even more versatile with the release of the EU30iu Handy. The new model, an addition to the popular EU range, is designed with the user’s convenience in mind; it weighs only 35 kilograms – an incredible 24 kilograms lighter than the existing electric start EU30is model.

The EU30iu Handy is also more compact than the EU30is, making it easier to transport while still providing similar power. And a folding handle and mobility wheels aid portability.

According to Honda Power Equipment Sales Manager, Ray Briffa, there are a variety of design features that contribute to the EU30iu’s light weight.

“The EU30iu’s T-frame and all-resin cover help make it one of the lightest and most compact generators of its kind,” Mr Briffa said. “The new high-speed multi-point alternator is integrated into the engine, which also reduces its size and weight.”

But although its cover is lightweight, noise isn’t a concern. The EU30iu Handy produces as little as 57dB* – almost whisper-quiet – a quality Honda’s advanced four-stroke generators are renowned for.

“Honda’s high-performance, sound absorbent materials that encase the engine help to significantly reduce noise,” Mr Briffa said.

Like many Honda generators, the EU30iu Handy also features a built-in Eco-Throttle, which improves fuel efficiency and reduces exhaust emissions.

“Honda’s special Eco-Throttle adjusts engine speed to meet load demand, thereby greatly increasing fuel efficiency and saving money in the long run,” Mr Briffa said.

With its compact design and light weight, the Honda EU30iu Handy generator will undoubtedly be popular among travellers and holiday-makers.

“It’s ideal for camping and caravanning. But as well as helping holiday-makers stay warm, cook dinner and refrigerate food, the EU30iu is also perfect for people working out in the field, such as farmers and tradespeople, or for maintenance workers who don’t have easy access to mains power,” Mr Briffa said.

With such a reduction in weight and size compared to its EU30is stablemate, you might expect a significant compromise in terms of power. But the EU30iu Handy’s GX160 engine delivers maximum output of 3,000 watts (rated output of 2,600 watts) and up to 7.7* hours of continuous operation on a full fuel tank.

The EU Inverter series generators are the most sophisticated generators on the Australian market.

“EU series generators, including the new EU30iu Handy, produce commercial quality electricity at output levels of generators twice their size and weight,” Mr Briffa said.

According to Mr Briffa, it is Honda’s microcomputer-controlled sine wave inverter that produces such high quality electricity. And low wave distortion allows the EU30iu Handy to power high frequency voltage sensitive items such as computers and measuring equipment without risk of surge damage.

“If higher output is required, two EU30iu Handy generators can easily be linked using a connection cable, doubling the output without the need for a larger and much heavier model,” Mr Briffa said.

“With the EU30iu Handy generator, Honda has made serious advancements in portability and user convenience. This model is compact, lightweight, fuel-efficient and quiet – ideal for any number of applications.”
